After Care Instructions

  1. Keep wrapping on for 2-4 hours. This allows the tattoo to bleed without the plasma in your blood drying out and possibly causing a scab.

  2. Carefully remove wrapping. If it sticks to the skin, then rinse with warm (not hot) water until bandage loosens. Expect to see blood, ink, and plasma on the wrapping and the tattoo itself.

  3. Using CLEAN HANDS, gently rinse the tattooed area with lukewarm water, making sure to remove excess blood, ink, and plasma.

  4. Thoroughly wash the tattooed area with lukewarm water and anti-bacterial soap (I use Dial Gold). DO NOT scrub with your nails, sponge, or a loofah, only use your fingertips and palms.

  5. After thoroughly cleaned, rinse with cool water to tighten and close pores.

  6. Pat dry with a clean, dry towel or clean paper towel, and let tattoo rest in open air for 10 minutes before applying product. Do not wipe.

  7. Using CLEAN HANDS, apply a small dab of moisturizer or balm to the tattooed area and rub in the small dab of product over the entire tattooed area, creating a very thin layer. You want the skin to feel a little tacky. Do not apply a thick or gooey layer of product. (Under moisturizing can cause problems, but over moisturizing can keep the tattoo from healing properly!)

  8. Repeat the “Wash-Dry-Apply” steps (#4-7) twice daily: in the morning and before bed for 2 weeks post-tattoo. After 2 weeks, continue to moisturize tattoo until fully healed (typically 3-4 weeks).

  9. To maintain, after your tattoo is fully settled, moisturize your tattoos daily! Don’t spend too much time outside without sun protection. Same rules as when you’re actively healing, soap just isn’t involved as much!

  10. Send pictures of freshly settled design 4 to 5 weeks post-tattoo. This will allow me to get a good look at how you healed and I can schedule you for any necessary touch ups. Touch-ups are FREE!

  11. DO NOT enter public swimming spaces, bodies of water such as lakes, oceans, and rivers, hot tubs (including personal), sun bathe, tan, etc. No baths. Showers are 100% okay, we just do not want the tattoo to soak! You are healing an open wound. Please be mindful of the placement and the possible infections you can receive outside of my care. Cover the healing tattoo if you work in healthcare, work closely with animals, raw meat, or out in the sun.
